Word Study Homework (Test this Friday)

What we are learning:

Math: This week we will be starting problem solving with addition and subtraction problems. Students will be doing a lot of practice of deciding which operation to use within a word problem, as well as, be taught how to show ones understanding of the problems. Teachers will be working in small groups with students to ensure their understanding of adding and subtracting using a hundreds chart. We will also review for our checkpoint that will be given this Friday. The check point will have a little bit of everything that we have covered so far such as addition, subtraction, data analysis, and place value.

Science: Students will still be looking closely at patterns of the Earth. This week our main focus will be on Weather.  Students will get to measure, record, and graph weather information, including temperature, wind conditions , precipitation, and cloud coverage. Students will also go to the science lab this week where they will be actively engaged in a lab over weather.

Reading: Students will be learning about character traits and making inferences about characters in stories.

Writing: Students will be editing and revising personal narratives.

Social Studies: Continents and oceans
