In addition to this students will be doing some decomposing of 2d shapes. For example, they will be able to decompose two-dimensional shapes such as cutting out a square from a rectangle, dividing a shape in half, or partitioning a rectangle into identical triangles and identify the resulting geometric parts.

He buys 322 plants. He now has 389 plants. How many plants did he have to start with? The students would have to set the problem up and see that they have a total and will need to subtract to get the missing part.

Science: We will continue our unit on life cycles and adaptations. Students will be able to explain the basic needs of plants and animals as well as how they adapt to their surroundings in order to survive.
