This week we are learning:

Math: We will continue practice subtraction with regrouping. We will be paying close attention to problem solving with problems where the unknown can be any part. For example, John has some plants. He buys 322 plants. He now has 389 plants. How many plants did he have to start with? The students would have to set the problem up and see that they have a total and will need to subtract to get the missing part.

Science: We will continue our unit on life cycles and adaptations. Students will be able to explain the basic needs of plants and animals as well as how they adapt to their surroundings in order to survive. For example, squirrels hibernate when the trees loose their leaves in the winter. We will have Science lab this week as well where they will have a chance to explore different stations that go along with our unit.
